How Much Does God Really Love You?

For the tired heart still wondering if it matters to anyone.

Martha was 52. All her life she had carried other people. She rose before dawn for her children, nursed her sick mother for years, and listened to everyone else's sorrows. One evening, after the dishes were done, she sat alone in the dark kitchen. No one had asked how she was doing. "Does anyone really see me?" she whispered. And in that silence, an old line from her childhood floated back: "I have loved thee with an everlasting love." She wept, not from sadness, but from relief. For the first time in a long while, she remembered she was seen.

Maybe you see yourself in Martha. You carry a family, a job, debts, regrets. You wonder whether God, up there, really loves you, or whether He loves you only when you are good and strong. There is good news, and it is bigger than all your fears.

Notice this: God did not merely talk about love. He gave. He gave what was most precious to Him, His Son Jesus Christ, for you. God's love is not a distant idea; it is a gift, sealed on a cross, with your name in the heart of the Saviour.

Perhaps you think you have waited too long, sinned too much, failed too often. But God's love does not depend on your performance. He knew you before you were born. He counted each of your days. You are not an accident; you are a wanted work.

Nothing can ever tear you away from this love. Not your past, not your shame, not your weariness, not even death itself.

And there is more. God does not put up with you and sigh. He delights in you. Imagine: the Maker of the universe singing for joy over you, like a father watching his child asleep.

Can a mother forget her child? Sometimes, sadly, the world forgets us. But God has engraved you. Ellen White writes in "Steps to Christ" (chapter 1): all nature and all the Word speak to us of God's love. You are never out of His sight.

• End with Zephaniah 3:17: God sings for joy over us.
• Pray by naming each person and their specific burden.
